Wenger believes stars will remain at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger is confident that contract rebels, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will remain at Arsenal.Sanchez and Ozil have less than 18 months remaining on their contracts and negotiations over new deals have stalled.
The two Arsenal stars have since been linked with several clubs but Wenger is confident that they will remain at the Emirate.
Sanchez was reported to have made a comment insinuating that he would prefer a move to Chelsea but Wenger translated it differently.
“[I interpreted the comments] in a very positive way, there is only one team in London so he is happy. I do not have a lot to add,” he said in a press conference ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday, April 2.
“I think personally he is happy here. We have not extended his contract yet, but I think he will extend it.”
On Ozil, Wenger said; “He is not out of contract at the end of this season.
“One you go into the final one or two months of the season, everyone is focused on the end of the season.
“I think both of them [Ozil and Sanchez] want to stay.”
Arsenal’s miserable run has seen them slump to sixth in the Premier League table and Wenger believes they can show strength to make top four.
They will be without Petr Cech and Lucas Perez for the visit of City on Sunday.
